Carefully read this book, cover to cover. The writer is very gifted. However, the principle subjects are complicated; requiring more elaboration. Each chapter needed to be much longer. The book itself needed to be a minimum of: 300 pages; (ideally, 500 pages.) Even, better there should have been just two subjects selected; and then 300 - 500 pages of content. Example: if the two related subjects of: 'John Wilkes Booth: Was Lincoln's Assassin Apprehended?' and 'The Kennedy Assassination: The Truth Is Out There' were combined into ONE book; (there is more likely a possibility for excellence.) The book then, could have been divided equally; and parallels drawn. Let me additionally say, that each chapter was done well, for the amount of pages allocated. Each chapter, does not appear to push one side or the other. However, I really wanted to give a three star rating. This is all due to the lack of quality material within the last chapter. It seems, that a lot more work went into the previous chapters. Also, the last chapter, regarding the Kennedy Assassination; was a little too heavy into psychology. What do I mean about that? The writing in the last chapter seemed to imply the public had a need to complicate the crime. My interpretation may not be correct. But, in several sentences there seemed the implication, that the public had; deep seated fears that played on their interpretation of evidence. In essence, the book has taken 10 very complicated subjects; and has not elaborated on them enough. If it was a book on 'creative art'; then, there would be enough pages on the subject. However, these are intricate, complicated subjects; that require a lot more serious discussion and elaboration.

I like reading about conspiracies and secret societies since I was a kid. I found this book for the most part just a rehash of other books on the subject. There was not much decoding in my view just a here is a conspiracy we can't prove or disprove. It is like watching a TV show without the dramatic music or commercial breaks. Now don't get me wrong some were interesting like the chapter on JFK's assassination. The one on John Wilkes Booth was just an rehash of old theories of did he or didn't he died in that barn, but the same can be said about several other person's from our history. Others were pretty new conspiracy theories to me. The only one that I had a big problem with was the theory on Dan(D.B.) Cooper there was too much circumstantial evidence for his claim and I want to say what about the money to find out what I am talking about read the book. I think if you are conspiracy buff you will find this book interesting or if you want to delve into conspiracies this is a good place to start.

This guy's TV shows are so crazy conspiratorial that you'd expect his book to set your hair on fire. You'd be wrong. This is an elegant and entertaining coffee table book (though not of large size) that is quite moderate in tone and entirely factual, with emphasis on the decoding rather than the conspiracy. It's especially enticing for a youngster because each conspiracy is described in a short story and presented with a sealed envelope containing a facsimile document that holds the key to or at least represents the conspiracy. It is worth every penny...makes me smile to see it lying on my bookshelf. Kids pick it up whenever they have a few minutes to wait, read/revisit one story at a time.

Some of the information and possible scenarios were new to me. This gives the reader the chance to form his own opinion on some. I especially enjoyed the section on the Abraham Lincoln assassination, and the real possibility that what I learned in school needed updating. Read it yourself and find out!!

I found this book went by almost too fast. I was pretty well versed on a out half of these stories, and I found all of them equally easy to follow, and I was glad to follow along. The author inserts his personal outlook throughout, but it is a light touch, and I felt as if he was doing it to share how he turns over each of the stones in the different subjects. The style allowed his enthusiasm for the subject to shine through, and this added to the overall easy and eager flow to the pacing. A couple of his stories I knew all of the details he presents, and they gibed extremely well with all the things I learned. I felt although one could find more elements to the story, there was nothing missing in order to make the case, or debunk the case he was making. Well done, I look forward to reading more of Mr. Meltzer's work.

At first a bit interesting---until you get to passages that state an engraving on a tree will migrate up with time (entirely untrue) and a "case closed" rehash of the jfk assassination. Beyond difficult to give any creedence after whoppers like that.

If you are a fan of the show, you will certainly be a fan of the book. Take the material with grain of salt, but it is certainly provocative and wants you the reader to ask more questions. What disappoints me about the kindle edition is the "Exhibits" that are presented are difficult to read. That might be better in paper format, but it certainly does not take away from the book itself.

I found this book to be well-written, humorous and incredibly addicting! I've never seen Melzer's "Decoded" TV program, but as someone who enjoys shows like "Coast to Coast AM", I'm going to start tuning in. There were several of these conspiracies I'd never even heard of such as The Georgia Guidestones (freaky!), but the author does a great job in presenting them (or recapping, if you're already in the know) before giving a full deconstruction. As you can imagine, not everything can be buttoned up with a tidy little explanation, but isn't that the fun of conspiracy theories?

Short and easy story for kids at the thanksgiving table.

I like the story and it is how I remembered it as a kid. There are a few grammar mistakes that were irritating that made it difficult to read out loud.

Used with my 3rd grade classrooms, students enjoyed the book. And it was a great addition to our unit on the First Thanksgiving as it provided another perspective

Loved being able to share some REAL history with the grandkids.

I don't write many reviews but I have to comment on this book in view of the only other review here...because I could not possibly disagree with it more.This is an incredibly well-written and historically accurate portrayal of Squanto's story. My children (ages 3 and 5) loved it and hung on every word. It is NOT dumbed down or written "for children" (in my opinion, there is nothing worse than a book which talks down to children), but instead is written in beautiful, lyrical language which makes the story enjoyable for both adults and children. I checked out just about every Thanksgiving-themed book in the library this year in order to find ones I wanted to add to our own collection...out of about 25 options, this is the only one I have purchased so far. You won't regret adding this one to your holiday library!

We've read several Squanto/Plymouth library stories this autumn, & this is one I'm most likely to re-read every November. Metaxas tells this more like a ballad biography, gently narrating through the love of homeland, kidnapping, longing to return, disappointment & finding the wandering Pilgrims as "brothers in sorrow." It's a slower pace, which echoes other Native American legends that the boys enjoy re-hearing & narrating in their play. For kids who adore the rich language of Beatrix Potter, this was a lovely read-aloud that sparked imaginative play for days.Five stars for us! 🐟🌰🌱🌽🍗

This entry in the Kindred Brides sci fi series is the story of a hydrid Kindred warrior named Merrick and an Earth woman named Elise, who was formerly captured and tortured by the Scourge All-Father. After being cursed by the Kindred First World high priestess whom he sought out for forgiveness, Merrick is belatedly en route to the Kindred Mother Ship which is in Earth's orbit when he discovers a stasis chamber containing Elise floating in space. Merrick rescues her and brings her to the Mother Ship, beginning an unusual bond between the two. Their romance has many twists and turns, ups and downs. Both Merrick and Elise are emotionally scarred by their pasts. I really empathized with and enjoyed the connection between these two and loved how protective Merrick was of Elise. While Elise was somewhat naïve in one respect for a lawyer, the story was still a tender, satisfying one. I appreciated the justice meted out to Charles!

Okay so this is my sixth Kindred book review and, to be honest, I was so invested in the series that I kept reading without stopping to review the books so I can't remember specifics as I would have liked to. Having said that, however, I will tell you all what I can actually recall. Elise is a traumatized woman, with a dark past, that is rescued by the unique and scarred Merrick after being abducted by the evil AllFather. Elise's past is horrifying, even to me as a reader (I won't go into details because I don't want to spoil anything for potential readers,) but it certainly explained her various reactions to the items that she went through in the book itself. Merrick also had a dark past, but in my opinion it was less horrifying then Elise; however both pasts made a perfect path to true love for the main characters.I think that, together, the duo are wonderful and are such a cute couple and I was rooting for them throughout the tale. The whole book had a vague Beauty and the Beast vibe that I greatly enjoyed. All in all, it's a fantastic next installment in the Kindred series and I recommend it quite vehemently.

This series is a really good series one that I can not stop reading I love everything about then except one thing and that is how whiney and wimpy some of the women are!!! I think a little whiney from time to time I can deal with but all the back and forth and denying feelings and so much talk of how something can't happen or whatever the situation in any of the books are really gets to me. I really want to stop reading them when it gets to those parts but the story's are to good not to know how it ends. What I'm saying is that the books and stories told are great and I will continue to keep purchasing them, but I really wish the author would toughen up these women!! Or even put in a girl that is strong and doesn't back down from anyone or deny deny deny her feelings!! Other than the way the main character women are at times until they finally come to their senses and I don't want to smack them and tell them to grow a pair and look at what they have in their soon to be mate this is a wonderful series and I really love the way the author is so descriptive I literally can picture every place and every character as she describes them!! Thank you for giving us these great books to escape reality for a while while we are reading! I love series that have a ton of books because when I find a series I like I never want it to end! This is a very creative author and she has amazing stories to read I am a fan of the kindred series and will continue to keep buying them and reading until there are no more!! The books don't drag on and they don't get boring as soon as I finish one I start on the next one, and have been buying them 3 at a time which I go through one in a day or less! Please consider putting a strong woman in a future book one that is head strong doesn't whine or Denies her feelings that will just go with the flow and jump right in!! That would be awesome! Happy reading!

This book deals with Elise and Merrick, who were introduced as minor characters in a few past stories. Elsie was kidnapped by the AllFather and Merrick rescued her from the stasis chamber she had hidden away in. What they didn’t know was, when he released her, it caused a stasis bonding between them that could end up be deadly for both of them. So they need to find a certain plant on the Kindred home world to deactivate the bonding. What makes the whole story unique, is that Merrick is a hybrid Kindred, a cross between a Blood and Beast Kindred. Because of their hybrid nature, they can never bond with a female, so Merrick will do anything not to give up a bond he thought he’d never share with a female. But, he also doesn’t want to jeopardize Elise’s life. Oh, the quandary.This book deals with sexual abuse between child and trusted adult, so some people may not want to read this story, but what happened to Elsie defines her in her adult life, so it’s a necessary evil you have to read. And that’s what brings Merrick and Elsie together, their deep, mental scars.This book is just as rich in detail, and characterization as the other books. We do some more planet hopping, and get a better look at the new threat to the Universe, The Hoard and their leader, Draven. He is a true bad boy. I have noticed that Evangeline has backed off somewhat from all the sex scenes. Maybe because she’s already shown the different bonding sex for the different Kindred warriors.Book 6 was a satisfying read, and I look forward to the next one in the series. I give it 4 feathers.

Gerda Weissmann Klein is a Holocaust survivor. She is the author of All But My Life, in print for 40 years in 40 editions, which has attained the status of a classic, The Hours After: Letters of Love and Longing in War’s Aftermath, The Blue Rose, Promise of a New Spring, and A Passion for Sharing, which earned its author the Valley Forge Freedom Award. In 1996, Klein was one of five women to receive the prestigious international Lion of Judah award in Jerusalem. More recently, she was featured on the cover of a McDougall-Littel educational textbook, The Americans, alongside such other notable figures as Franklin D. Roosevelt, Martin Luther King Jr., Ronald Reagan, and Gen. Norman Schwartzkopf. Klein’s constant striving for the preservation of human rights and dignity has earned her five Doctorates of Humane Letters, along with countless other awards. Her recent television appearances include 60 Minutes, Oprah, and CBS Sunday Morning.

After reading 'All but my life', and watching the documentary 'One survivor remembers',I was anxious to read more about Mrs. Klein and her life after the War. I loved the way the stories were interwoven,with past and current experience. To me it was amazing story. The fact that her liberator became her husband and soul mate. Her ability to appreciate simple things in life was inspiring,very little bitterness of her past life. Truly an amazing woman.

Gerda's story is amazing, and she is an excellent writing. I have read all of her books, and I use her documentary, "One Survivor Remembers" in my Honor's 8th grade English class. I have to keep buying new copies of her books, because the students like them so much they keep walking off with them!

Herds Klein is a wonderful writer. Her command of her story is riveting. Very highly recommend!!

She knows what is truly important in life. I love all of her books!

Ballard has always been one of my husband's favorite SF writers. This collection of interviews covering over 40 years fascinates him. He tells me that it has really helped him understand how Ballard thought and how he grew as a writer. My husband has not finished it yet, because it so good he does not want to finish it.
