Great as a desktop reference (paperback or Kindle).Easy to learn and understand for Linux beginners and a great reference for professionals.I gifted this most recent version to my 10 year old nephew (who is just starting to learn Linux) and he read it from cover to cover in a week.I have been actively using Debian for over 20 years and I still look to this book for reference every now and again. Helps me remember things too.A book that EVERY Linux user should have in their arsenal :-)-----First purchased this book as a paperback years back. Then in July 2018 I purchased it again for my nephew. Then recently (November 2018) I purchased it in digital form for my Kindle so I could take it with me everywhere.

recommending this book very highly because the explanation is easy and the author always marked pages you can refer to. so if you are not familiar with some new concepts or commands then you can go to the page the author indicated. very kind to readers and save my time as i don't have to screen index page every time.

there is a ton of information in this book, and that makes it a great reference to have on hand. I am not a systems admin, nor do I work in the IT industry. I am however a Linux enthusiast and this book is a great help.

This is a beautifully illustrated story for children to learn about the significant history of the Jewish Purim holiday. It celebrates the story of the heroic Queen Esther, who saved her people from the evil Haman’s plan to eliminate the Jews of Persia.This story is written in an easy-to-understand format with clear and concise rhyming that flows smoothly. I especially enjoyed the humor and simplicity of how the author shortened King Achashverosh's name to King "Oy-vey".This enchanting tale is filled with so much rich cultural history, and I believe that all children should read it, no matter what their religion is. The importance and value of learning about our world's history is priceless, and I think this book should be included in every library and classroom today.

I loved Sarah Mazor's newest book , "Queen Esther's Big Secret." There are many reasons why I found it educational and enchanting. This story is based on the Book of Esther which is read on the feast of Purim in Jewish synagogues around the world. It celebrates how Queen Esther saved the Jewish people in Persia from slaughter during the reign of Achashverosh (Xerxes I).King Achashverosh (Oy-vey) had an argument with his wife, Queen Vashti. She disappeared. The king became lonely and sent his guards to find a new wife. He chose Esther, a girl who was previously unknown. Esther hid a secret, she was the cousin of Mordechai, the Jew. When the wicked Haman develops a plot to kill all the Persian Jews, Esther reveals it to the king who kills Haman and rescinds the decree. The shy orphan girl becomes the heroine of her people.The four-line rhymes contained on each page are crisp and sharp. Zavadskyi’s illustrations are brilliantly colorful. They portray the mood of the story perfectly. I would recommend this book for any elementary school reader

I recommend this book for newbies and experienced, (to review and update). I am experienced but have been blowing sticks lately. Bought this as just a review to see if I could pick up a tip or two. The book is easy to read, no fluff, has good descriptions and useful photos. I wish I had had this book when I was a brand new nurse. I learned what is in this book the hard way (for my pts as well). I bought another book on starting IV sticks as well. I definitely prefer this book. This book is more thorough, better descriptions, more info. The other book I bought did have a useful list of antidotes in case of extravasation. Would like to see that added to this book.

I have a glowing review of this book. I was going through a period of months where I could not get an IV and always had call the charge nurse to help. I was getting so frustrated and then I saw this book. I read it in under an hour and it really helped clarify and solidify the technique of starting an IV. Tonight, my patient's IV came out and so it was the first time I put into practice what was in the book.As Bob writes in his book: "One and done!" I got the IV on the first stick! And the patient even made a comment that I was really good because the nurse before me poked him multiple times. I plan on rereading this book every few months to keep my skills up.

A helpful read to build confidence as you become comfortable with venipuncture. After multiple failures I was really beginning to psych myself out with IV starts. Reading through this offered a couple points I hadn't thought about, and helped bolster confidence as I continued trying to improve my success rate. Truthfully, there is no substitute for practice. No book will suddenly make you great at starting IVs. Only constant practice can make you better at IVs. That said, there are many ways to build confidence in your approach to venipuncture which can make you better at it more quickly. I do think reading this book was helpful in that regard.

Obviously it’s hard to explain a physical skill like this through a book; but this is an excellent job. I think newbies and veterans alike could take away a lot; and it dispels a lot of the “truth must do’s” out there that are preached by the salty dogs.Wish I’d read this years ago.

Every nurse faces challenges with what each patient brings. This ebook has some good pearls of wisdom to share. Take the time to read and put what he says in your practice toolbox because you'll never know when you'll need to use "sage" advice!

The information appears a bit dated. Hardly any pictures (no diagrams) and printing was on cheap paper. While I commend the author for his intent to impart information and teaching (no doubt without much funding) the book doesn't measure up to the new IV books available.

Nothing fancy but gives clear explanations and useful tips that I have already put into practice.Totally worth the $3.You will look like a pro.

As a new RN starting out in CCU, I found this book extremely helpful in teaching the technique to get the IV the first time. I have had some difficulty with hand placement being a lefty but the tips in this book have worked regardless of my hand usage.

I loved this graphic novel. The story is great! The artwork is absolutely beautiful. The water-colors (Gouache?) and the movement of the figures are incredible. Five stars for this beautiful book.

Boy, I really wanted to like to like this book. It's from one the best publishers out there (Drawn & Quarterly) and is about Algeria's struggle for liberation (I lived in Algeria for five years). Unfortunately, the beautiful coloring and wonderful paper and production can't quite rescue a story in which characters are barely developed and the action transitions much too abruptly.The story begins in 1955, the early days of the Algerian revolution against French colonial rule, where the reader meets young boxer Said. Promoters spot his raw talent and he is propelled to France to become a championship contender. Meanwhile, back home, his brother has joined the revolutionary underground. As Said rises through the ranks, he struggles to stay apolitical, refusing to pay a "tax" to support the revolution and somewhat less successfully refusing to be a poster boy for French rule in Algeria. Indeed, his naive attempt to remain neutral is rather unconvincing as there is no explanation for its grounding, and thus is one of the story's weak points.Said's tale spans six years and takes only 45 pages, which leads to a certain feeling of truncation. Scenes jump into each other rather awkwardly, and the pacing feels very forced. What's also odd is that despite the title, the hero only spends a page and a half in America, and that trip has almost no plot purpose. Another problem is that a number of characters tend to look the same in Baru's representations. Interestingly, although he has gone for lovely traditional European detail for all his buildings, cars, backgrounds, etc. (like Vittorio Giardino), he retains a stylized cartoonish formation for his people, which can be confusing.Ultimately, while the art and production are quite beautiful, Baru has tried to force too much into too small a space. Algeria's struggle to free herself from France was a vastly complicated affair, with several factions on both sides operating both in Algeria and France. It's an integral part of modern French history, but I suspect that most American readers won't have enough of a historical context to sort out what's going on with DeGaulle, the OAS, and whatnot. Finally, the conclusion is rather weak in that it has events overtake Said rather than force him to confront his conscience and make a choice as to whose side he's on. It's still worth a look, and the climactic depiction of the riot by Paris police against peaceful protest marchers (which really happened) is quite vivid and horrific.One final note is that the introductory text has two typos in it. One refers to Algeria's liberation struggle as a civil war, which is rather like calling the American revolution the American civil war. The other is with regard to the number of Algerians killed, which is listed as 150,000. Depending on whose numbers you look at, the real number is from three to ten times that amount (the French government finally admitted to a figure or 350,000 while the Algerian government placed it at 1.5 million).

The setting is Algeria and France during the political upheavals of the late 1950's. A young Algerian begins boxing and rises through the ranks to become the French National Champion. He is caught in a political tug of war between the French authorities and Algerian revolutionaries. This is a great idea for a story but the Bande Desinee format is not best medium for telling it. Baru's artwork is beautiful and rich in the atmosphere of the time. Unforutnately, the text is more of an outline of a good story than it is a real story.

WARNING: They try to gip you, the online resources (including practice test) are the same as their 7-book subject review (haven't actually read the book yet, that all may be the same as well). Wasted 30-something dollars buying this hoping for an additional practice test and was VERY MISTAKEN. Advice: Just buy the AAMC resources instead (made by the actual MCAT makers, so more accurate), and watch the FREE Khan Academy Videos (very helpful).

the full length exam it comes with is the same one that comes with the 7 book set if you've bought both in hopes of new tests. good explanations after the answer options. Kaplan's helped me. 3 stars because the 7 book set is worth the money but I probably wouldn't buy this looking back.

Scored 90th percentile + on my MCAT and I didn't even open this book. It looks great but I don't think book is necessary to your success. Buy their 7 book set. Study it well and practice a lot and you'll succeed

This is an extremely poor study book. It's basically a list of all the topics listed on the official AAMC website without any insight on how best to study, or what might be more likely to appear on the test. Instead they basically list out the topics, and give you common sense/useless tips like guessing and eliminating wrong choices. You can literally get this information for free from the AAMC.Furthermore, the test questions are extremely mis-representative of the actual MCAT questions. When compared to official AAMC MCAT practice questions, Princeton or Exam Krackers, or even other Kaplan materials, the questions are too specific and feel wrong. Even worse, the full length exam they give you online access to is a copy of one of the exams already included in the Kaplan 7-book course! Literally everything is either copy pasted, or useless.Do not buy this book. If you need something similar, i.e. outline of the test and sample questions, I would suggest the official study guide from AAMC.

Do not waste your money on this book. There is so many errors it is ridiculous. Sometimes the answer key will be wrong, units off, and sometimes they miss the question in the answer key! There is far better prep material out there then this stuff. The questions are okay, but some of them are completely unlike what you will see in the MCAT. I dont usually write reviews but after reading through this one I felt as if it was necessary just because so many little things annoyed me about it. Buy something else.

This guide is thorough and helpful, it contains a lot of test tips in general and information about the test itself, and some practice tests. Some of the information about the test itself gets a bit repetitive, and despite this being from Kaplan, I still uncovered various typos throughout the text. I was surprised to find so many mistakes, but overall the text is still intelligible and helpful. This text does NOT contain any background information about the topics covered, so if you're looking for a review of the material this is not it. It does give info about the test, strategies, and practice passages in various topics.

Good test strategy however everything could have been found online. Better off focusing on book set and saving cash from this for AAMC material.

ELISABETH PRUEITT is the cofounder of the San Francisco–based Tartine Bakery and Tartine Manufactory and the owner of the ice cream shop Cookies & Cream. Good cookbook for the gluten free crowd. I am not on a gluten free diet, but I have been testing these recipes (30 of them to be more precise) and so far it's a good cookbook. I read someone`s review saying the book is a roller coaster ride and I agree. Ups and downs. A few of the recipes I tried were not successful at home. And a handful were excellent. But again, some people love the book and have greater success with the very recipes I struggled with. What gives? All photos you see here are mine, you can see more and also read about each recipe I tried at 30recipes30days (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram).

I agree with other commenters that this book should have advertised itself more honestly as a "gluten-free" cookbook, as the baked items are in fact flourless. It disappointed me, too, until I actually tried some of the recipes, and they are quite good! I find her writing to be refreshingly straightforward, honest, and not overdone. Her husband's books are outstanding and I would not be the baker I am without them, but I wish he had had her do the writing, as she has more skill as a writer than he does (or maybe just a better editor). Like others I am frustrated by the apparent error in the corn souffle recipe, but I have not found any other errors, and I disagree that this book is "fussy" or difficult. I have not experienced that. It is true the baking recipes require some materials you may not have -- coconut flour, brown rice flour, coconut sugar. But take thirty bucks to a decent grocery store and you will have what you need (plus a generous amount of almond flour, which will add to the bill if you don't already have it.) I have less experience with the non-baking recipes but what I have done has worked well. This is a good book and it has something for everyone, from jam and pickles through breakfast, lunch, dinner, salad, and dessert, as well as food for gatherings. If you are expecting something simple and traditional, it may not be the book for you, but it is not at all the fussy and over-detailed work some here seem to be accusing it of. She even tells you how to make applesauce, for crying out loud. Her love of real food with real flavors, and her appreciation of the role food plays in our lives really comes through, but does not intrude on the recipes. Oh and also, the book is tough as hell. Thick binding, and thick pages that you can literally wash off with a rag. This book is worth the money.

I love Tartine, I idolize Chad and Elizabeth, and I was really looking forward to receiving this book. However, I have yet to be impressed with a single recipe. I have made the cheesy corn souffle (estimating some proportions as some of the instructions are missing). The cider caramel ribs were not that great. The cream cheese dough is impossible to form into a ball without adding liquid (still haven't baked it off, so I am not sure of the flavor/texture). The fruit cobbler (or buckle, whatever it is...) was not great either. Everything is just lackluster in flavor, and I regret spending so much money on the gluten-free flours that are unlikely to get used.

I’m in two minds about this book. I read some of the reviews and they mentioned that this is a gluten-free cookbook. I don’t follow a gluten-free diet, but I bought the book anyway thinking there would be enough recipes to keep me interested. Unfortunately the recipes I’m drawn to (breakfast, dessert, and baking recipes) are gluten-free and generally don’t appeal to me. Over the last five years I’ve bought large bags of almond flour to make cakes and cookies, because I saw many great reviews of baked goods using almond flour, so they must be good, right? Well I can say after baking Claudia Roden’s gluten-free orange cake twice (she is a British cook) and making almond flour shortbread a number of times, and I once made almond flour scones, that I don’t like the taste, smell, or texture of baked goods using almond flour. However, I have twice made a chocolate orange cake with almond flour which I did enjoy, but only because it contained a lot of cocoa so it tasted like an orange-flavored chocolate truffle. Sure there are recipes in the book using other types of flour, but it’s unlikely I will buy those flours to make the food. I don’t want to leave a low rating, but as others have said the author should have been open and said this is a gluten-free cookbook. There are plenty of recipes that are ordinarily gluten-free, but at the moment I’m not looking to make those. I’m sure they are very good recipes, but for now, although I bought this book knowing it’s gluten-free, I wish there were breakfast, baked, and dessert recipes that used gluten-free all purpose flour substitute in addition to recipes with almond, nut, buckwheat flour etc.
