I've been living with a severely food allergic child (milk, eggs, nuts, soy) for eight years, and have subscribed to the FAN newsletter all that time, so I am hardly a newbie when it comes to food allergies. And I just LOVE this book. I was pleasantly surprised by the wealth of completely practical information it contained. She has excellent ideas for traveling with a food allergic child. Her recommendations about making your home a safe zone and letting your child play at other homes are spot on. Her comments about school and outings are great. She doesn't miss a thing. And I gained lots of ideas, like having a separate section of the freezer for "Becca-safe" foods, that are making my life easier.I love her tone, too. She is clear and easy to understand. She is so realistic, and so calm, "Don't expect too much from other people" is so true, because even well-intentioned people just make mistakes. Unfortunately, you always have to be on guard.One option she did NOT mention regarding school lunches is for your child to sit at a tray table placed at the end of the cafeteria table. This is what my child is doing, plus they do not let children drinking milk or eating yougurt or "spillable" dairy products sit near her. So far, this has worked well for our daughter.My daughter is now eight, and she is starting to seem depressed about her food allergies, and I would have loved more information about how to help her deal with the emotional aspects of food allergies. And perhaps more information about what to expect when she reaches puberty, the age when some kids start to be rebellious and to take risks. Although, the author was writing from personal experience and her son outgrew his dairy allergy at age 11.5 (so there is hope yet, dear Becca), so perhaps that is why the book ends where it does.Anyway, this is the number one book I will recommend to parents of children who are newly diagnosed with food allergies - and even those who have been dealing with it for a while but want some new ideas or advice about specific problems.

I was fortunate to have found this book right when I first found out my daughter had multiple life threatening food allergies. It helped me think about things and find ways of approaching different situations. It helped my "grow a backbone" and speak up for my child. It MADE me think about things that hadn't even occurred to me yet.I am normally a very organized person and as I found out about her allergies it was very overwhelming to me of how I was going to deal with her allergies on a daily basis. This book gave me a "jumping off" place for figuring out how to "swim" with food allergies. Her suggestions/experiences made me look like I had it "together" long before I did. I figured out which of her tips worked for our family.The first six months is ALWAYS the hardest. Whether it is adding or losing an allergen. Some allergens are a lot harder than others. But figuring out how to wade through it helped me tremendously.

My toddler grandson was diagnosed with severe peanut allergies, after a very frightening "first" experience with peanut butter. Since I am involved in his care, I've listened carefully to his parents as they've explained the use of the EpiPen, and how to manage an anaphylactic reaction. I must admit that I once felt a sense of confusion and helplessness. Since reading this book, I feel much more empowered and confident that I will be able to properly manage an emergency situation with him. We now have a family plan, should an emergency arise, as well as signed consent forms, and a step-by-step checklist.I now believe that I will be able to save my grandson's life, if needed. I heartily recommend this book to anyone who cares for a child with life-threatening food allergies.

This book is very thorough and resourceful for a parent who just had a child who was diagnosed with food allergies, or even for the experienced one who is continuously striving for ways to keep your child safer.

This book was like sitting across a coffee table having a chat with a very knowledgeable Mom friend! Linda Coss is a wealth of knowledge! As an experienced Mother of a child with food allergies, it was really nice to be able to find a book like this for me to read and learn from. I use it as a resource often. Being that we are somewhat new with food allergies,(our child just turned 3)she really helps educate about food allergies and provides fantastic insight as well as advice. In reading her book,she even motivated me to start my own local community support group! Thank you Ms.Coss!

Already, a few of the tips in this book have saved us from some very dangerous situations that we would not have known to be cautious of. I HIGHLY suggest that if there is anyone in your family with serious food allergy issues you get this book and read it, then pass it along to others in your family or your child's caretaker to read. GREAT PRODUCT!!!

This was recommended to me recently by my allergist. My child was diagnosed with FAs 2 years ago but not had a severe reaction until recently. I wish I had this book 2 years ago! It's all of the information I found in multiple places plus so much more. It's a MUST for any caregiver of a child with food allergies!!!

I echo what most have already said here, aside from the seemingly honest perspective of the book having some padding in the form of fluff. In contrast, I found the opposite to be true. If this book were only 20-30 pages, I surely would not have extracted as much value as I did in its current form.I've pretty much read every book that I could find from agency owners and this book was by far top of the class. What made this book stand out for me was it's actionable approach towards 'connecting actions to outcomes' and measuring marketing performance at scale.Every marketer's nightmare is tracking and organizing data and then translating and reporting ROI. The author solve's this dilemma by providing systems and processes that will change the way you think about all these things.After reading this book, I've tried to absorb all the content available online that I could find from the author. And after spending a few years with this book and his evergreen content, I find it as useful today as I did on day one.Everything I've found online from the author has been well thought out and worthy of your time, energy and focus. I couldn't recommend his body of work any more highly.All said, I found this book very approachable and immediately actionable.Resources:I found his company's PR 20/20 blog and his agency tailored Marketing Agency Insider blog to be very insightful.If you are looking for additional course material, you can email his friendly staff at PR2020 for further information on some of his more advanced courses, which were all excellent.

The core content of this book was absolutely fantastic and immediately actionable. This book, and an accompanying webinar led by Paul, inspired me to substantially improve our business practices in a number of different and complimentary ways.The only reason I give this book 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the content fluff. Because of all the chapter summaries, content repetition, and formatting tricks, this (seemingly) full-sized book reads more like a 20-30 page powerhouse that got puffed up to make it more marketable.However you feel about the presentation of the material, the actual information relayed is meaningful and important and absolutely worth the cost of the book.

Book is full of fluffy content which has no practical actionability on how to improve marketing performance. Wished I had trusted the other reviews and chosen not buy this book. Pure regret.

I honestly can't recommend this book enough! Anyone who works in marketing and PR should have this book on their book shelf. In his first book, The Marketing Agency Blueprint, Paul talks about the evolution of the marketer and how there is a shortage of these newly needed "hybrid marketers." As someone who wants to be the best in his field and also be a resource to others, both books have been a big help in my own skill-set development. It is more important than ever that marketers prove the ROI of their campaigns and this book helps push you into either gaining those skills or learning how to hire for those skills. On top of the skills and talent portion, Paul dives deep into the why and how of developing a game plan for your marketing technology system. A system that probably needs to be agile and able to shift with the ever-changing technology landscape. What metrics are measuring? How do they relate to the marketing funnel? Are you aligning KPIs with your business goals?

This is a great book for what is currently a rapidly changing market place. The processes and tools are gold!

I liked this in-depth look at tracking, reporting and KPIs. Expands on ideas and methodology put forth in The Marketing Agency Blueprint, which was excellent.

I think this needs to be read by everybody in the US. On that note, I hate that the people who need to read it the most, are among the people who are unwilling to even consider reading this book because they have decided they know everything there is to know on the subject.

The best book written to date on the subject of excessive use of force by police on minority groups. Matt Horace, well respected in the law enforcement community at the local, state and federal level, tells it like it is from a personal perspective. A compelling and must read!

A Very informative and interesting read

SHOULD REVEAL MORE BUT STOPPED SHORT

"Even as a federal agent, I have been on surveillance or supporting an operation and have had an officer approach me and say that the neighbors called about a "suspicious" vehicle, which meant it was a black guy driving a car. Iâ€™ve been the man in that suspicious vehicle.â€Matthew Horace worked as a cop at the federal, state, and local level for 28 years, and he is plenty sick of the â€œtoxic brotherhood.â€ The quote above refers to an incident that occurred in Mill Creek, a (very white) suburb outside Seattle, Washington where I live, but itâ€™s not just here; itâ€™s everywhere in the US. Specifically, he tells us about cities where some of the most notorious cop violence has created resistance such as New Orleans, Chicago, Baltimore, and Ferguson.There are essays provided by police chiefs from some of these places as well as from Kathleen Oâ€™Toole, who was chief here in Seattle; Oâ€™Tooleâ€™s prose reek of electioneering, the sort of style that speaks for itself. Many of these contributors contradict Horaceâ€™s own assertion that the problem is endemic, and is absolutely not a case of a few bad apples. More than one of these essays hold the fascination Iâ€™d feel if forced to watch a rattlesnake before it strikes; the sanctimony, the grandiose claims of justice supposedly served. The most interesting of them all is from an African-American police chief in Chicago, whose personal stories of her family members having been abusedâ€”including her sonsâ€”stand diametrically opposed to what she does for a living, and yet she maintains her tightrope walk, determined to make a difference where only the smallest, if any, seems likely.By now I should have thanked Net Galley and Hachette Books for the review copy, which I received free and early. This excellent book is available to the public Tuesday, August 7, 2018.There has been a flurry of books published about this subject since it became national news. More than anything, the internet and cellular phones have stripped the gatekeeping capacity of the major news outlets; cops that were able to beat and even kill people and lie about it later are being outed left and right. Even I, who am an old lefty and have never really believed cops were there to protect ordinary people, am shocked by much of whatâ€™s been revealed. I wondered, as I began reading, whether Horace could add to whatâ€™s already been said and shown. What could he add to the body of information provided by Ta-Nehisi Coates, Angela Davis, and Matt Taibbi? (Many years ago, Norm Stamper, former Seattle police chief, also wrote an expose that included a chapter on why cops beat Black men.)As it happens, Horace has a lot of information that I hadnâ€™t read, and it isnâ€™t just a matter of fine detail. For example, who knew that in New Orleans, cops were not merely accepting graft, but actively robbing Black-owned businesses, guns drawn, and making off with their cash and other valuables? Itâ€™s the sort of thing that lives in your head for a long time after you read it; but then again, it should be.The sourcing is impeccable.Those with an interest in Black Lives Matter, in civil rights in general, or with an interest in race issues within the so-called criminal justice system in America should get this book, for full price if necessary, and read it. Read the whole thing. So much of our future depends on how we respond.

The part about shootings and harassment back in the day by white men to black men doesn't surprise me it's knowing it's still going on. In this book we learn more about police abuse particularly to black officers, the many shootings of young black men like Michael Brown etc. Black Lives Matter. I really didn't know there was that many shootings of black men until reading this book. It's a enormous outcry in my mind. All in all this book is very interesting and kept me reading. I hated what Mr. Horace went through and the other black officers. This story needed to be told and everyone should pass this book around. Thank you Mr. Horace for telling this much needed book, it's about time someone did.One line will stay with me for a long time: If you call 911 who know who will show up. As a quilter, I was familiar with the illustrator's fabric designs. Her use of color and whimsy carry through in the book's illustrations. I love it. The counting rhymes are fluid and simple. I especially liked that there is a pronunciation guide to the Swahili names and numbers. There is also a glossary with the English and Swahili names for the animals.

This is one of the books I always give as a present at a baby shower. A group of African children and adults count and name the animals they encounter on their walk. The text includes English and Swahili words, a little bit of geography, rhyming text, and delightful illustrations. I am always pleased to give this book, and I can't resist re-reading it as I wrap it up.

Great book! The rhymes are fun and my child has fun naming the animals and counting them. It's also a wonderful added bonus that the swahili words for the animals and numbers are included. I would highly recommend this book.

This book is just gorgeous to look at. The artwork is wonderful. I really enjoy cultural books like this.What child wouldn't want to learn how to count such exotic creatures as leopards, lions, ostriches, giraffes, hippos, wildebeests, zebras, warthogs, monkeys, and elephants. It is an extra treat that the swahili names are added too.This is so much better than an ordinary counting book with it's interesting creatures and cultural introduction to Tanzania. A great way to encourage kids to learn about far away places.We combined this book with Mama Panya's Pancakes and had a wonderful time learning about Africa.

My son LOVES this book AND it's reinforcing his learning how to count! I am glad I chose a good book that shows people that look like him though from another culture.

Lovely counting book. Great pictures and nice rhymes. My almost 3 year old loves it and the adults don't mind reading it over and over again.

This is a beautifully illustrated book, in lyrical verse that tells the story of the Masai people, their culture, animals, and plant life, together with the lessons of counting and Swahili, the language they speak. I bought this book for an expected grandson and his parents since they had spent time in Tanzania coming away loving their experience; it also became inspiration for a quilt for this now 4 -yr. old. Both the book and the quilt are now are a little worn around the edges with love but remain treasures. We All Went On Safari is a must for every child's bookshelf.

It was for a Christmas gift I didn't use it.

A boring read. Nothing insightful. This book offers no intimate details of any of the five presidents written about, and as well it shouldn't. And the co-author obviously can't write about any of theSecret Services most intriging activities for security reasons. That being said, why write this book?

Definitely a page turner of the nth degree. Clint and Lisa weave an insider's view of the Presidency as no one else can. Their crisp and readable prose makes this a fascinating and enjoyable book that is hard to put down. We all know about Clint's interaction with John and Jacqueline Kennedy but the anecdotes of the others he protected are priceless. This is all new material here. Tales of Eisenhower, Johnson, Nixon, Agnew and Ford will keep you craving more. When you are finished you'll want Clint and Lisa to write a sequel with other historical gems too. Books like this are rare, informative and incredibly enjoyable to read. A winning combination!

While I was alive , though somewhat young in the early part of this book, I was reminded constantly the turmoil our country has gone through. This reads like a history book but with one big difference â€“ this is a smooth and easy read and you cannot put it down. I highly recommend this book to you. I promise you won't find yourself yawning at any time . Also, as an added benefit , there are many fine and high-resolution photos included.
