I have Maine Coon cats and they are every bit as intelligent and loving as Mr. O'Connor describes in his story. The descriptions of Owl Cottage are also lovely and make a reader feel as if they are right there before the fireplace with a cup of tea and a cat supervising the activity in the house. Mr. 0'Connor does seem to be somewhat obsessed with these cats and his attempt to impose his will on them is disturbing to one who loves these cats also and would never try to change them. Also cats and dogs belong in the human companion's home and in a safe enclosed outside space where they are free to play and stalk each other without the danger of being hit by a vehicle. As intelligent as they are they don't understand the danger that comes from humans and/or their vehicles.People who have visited the British Isles or who would like to will love the detailed descriptions of the areas that surround the Owl Cottage.

If you have not read "Paw Tracks in the Moonlight," by the same author, I highly suggest reading it before this one. This is a continuation of the author's life, and though it can read and easily understood without "Paw Tracks in the Moonlight," I would suggest getting to know the author and his first cat, Toby Jug, before sitting down with this one.That being said, this is a very well written book by a man who knows how to paint a visual picture. Reading his work is to be in Northumberland with him; gazing at the same castles and breathing the same English air as he does. The book is divided into four parts, each in dedication to one of his cats. The cats are Pablo, Carlos, Luis, and Max. After reading it, one can feel a connection with the felines and their individual personalities, as they are so well commemorated in this story.As much as I enjoyed this book, I knew it would be hard to follow up "Paw Tracks in the Moonlight," so I kept an open mind. I did very much enjoy the book, but I could tell it was hard to capture the magic that was present in the author's first book. Perhaps because it was about four different cats as opposed to one, or perhaps because the books are about completely separate times in the author's life. One is about a single professor in the 1960's, and this one is about a retired, married man in modern society. All in all, I do suggest this book as it is a solid sequel; full of beautiful language and vivid storytelling.

Love this story. I loved his first book about Toby Jug (Paw Prints in the Moonlight) and this book continues the story years later. The way he writes and describes everything about the sounds and smells, the food and drink, and the way he is feeling really brings you right there. Between the two books he has had quite a lengthy adventure with his cats and has a compelling story to tell and tells it very well.

The sheer innocence and honest relationship within the story is lost in this book. It now comes across as more of an authority on how to train and treat the cat, especially if it does not love you or misbehave. I just could not love this book as he seems to contradict himself,, on one hand he believes in the cat retaining it`s true wild nature, letting Pablo roam free every night, yet the other two Don`t get let out for two minutes without the harness and lead. This book does not come near the beauty of the previous book when Toby Jug and him just live an honest relationship, creating the free flowing journey through the pages.

Bought this book after reading "Paw Prints in the Moonlight". I was looking for something a little different than the usual non-fiction material I read. Truly enjoyed this story, and identified with the experience as I rescued a shelter cat many years ago who was also part Maine coon. I was not aware of this at the beginning either. I shared some similar experiences with the author. The book is well written, and makes you realize the potential of a pet as friend. Highly recommended.

This is a great sequel to Denis, first book about his years with Toby Jug.This book begins some years later when Denis, who is now married, and his wife return to Owl Cottage. Before very long they have their first new cat. Others follow before very long. Denis shares many adventures and misadventures with his cats. As with his earlier book, his love of cats comes through constantly.It is obvious that Denis believes that animals have hearts and souls like us and desrve to be treated with much more compassion than they often are. How right he is.Another great book. Many happy moments but some sad ones too.

People in the UK don't seem to protect their cats and consequently they often lose their cats to cars, thieves, many sad ways. I like Denis O'Connor's way of writing, his love of and respect for the wild places and the creatures that inhabit them.

This is a wonderfully written book. But the pain of their loss tragically is almost too much to bear. We must keep our cats indoors...there is too much that can destroy their lives.........also the story about the crows dying had me in tears for days.............how cruel our world is sometimes at the hands of men..........a powerfully written story but not without much pain!!!

I so enjoyed reading this book! It was a great mix of fantasy and mystery! The story was exciting and continued to draw me in deeper and deeper! I can’t wait for the 2nd book! I’m hoping it turns into a movie!

I love this book! From the very beginning to the very end I was pulled in. Her characters are believable a relatable and I felt like I was walking with them through each one of their journeys. I've always been a person to read into my our dreams and as a kid I Even believed that dream travel was possible, so reading Chantae's story and being able to see it unfold in her unique way is amazing. Another thing that I love about this book is the diversity of her characters. So often I read fantasy books and find that characters of color are nonexistent or few and far between and that wasn't the case here. I love a book that can get me in my emotions and this book definitely did the job. I was literally screaming out loud at some parts and couldn't sleep until I found out what happened next. I would recommend The Dream Weaver to anyone who loves YA fantasy, romance, fairies, great characters, and an all around page turner.

When I started this book I was excited to find it was one that I didn’t want to put down. Dreams are a concept that really intrigue me, and I love how the author explored the idea of dreams using fantasy. A new world is created and the beginning explorations happen in this exciting debut novel. The characters kept me intrigued and I was taken on a journey filled with surprises, intrigue, romance, betrayal, friendship, and fun. When I finished, I instantly needed the second book because it ends at such a climax with so many things happening. I am already counting down the time for book two in this series. Another thing I really love are the relationships in this book and I think the author does a great job of showing different types of relationships and displaying examples of positive behaviors and actions in relationships. I definitely recommend checking this out!

I was very excited for this, and it did not disappoint! I just received my preorder in the mail today, so I have yet to color in it. Its so pretty though, I'm a little apprehensive to defile it with my scribbles! Kidding...kinda. But here's what I can tell you about it:It comes with a beautifully decorated sleeve/book cover, with red foil accents. It's the first adult coloring book I've seen come that way, so I was impressed. There is a design inside the cover to color too! But I wouldn't dare.The paper is wonderfully thick! I have no fear that my markers will bleed through. It's the thickest card stock I've seen in an adult coloring book.The art inside is amazingly beautiful/creepy. Breepy. Or creautiful. Anyway, other than that, the pages range from very detailed to casually so. So there's something to fit your coloring mood. Nothing is too simple in it, otherwise that would be boring, right?Improvements: the only extra perks that I can think of, that I would personally enjoy would be tear-out pages, and one-sided pages. But those would just be icing on the cake for me. I will update if my opinion changes as I work with it, or if the book tries to murder me at night.

I've only done this one piece so far.and I'm impressed.good clean strong line work,and for those who are not strong at shading the artist puts all of those little guidelines in there for you.i will most definitely be buying from this artist again.my only recommendation don't use markers or paint of any kind as both sides of the paper have images on them.transfer the images onto other paper.i just used plain photocopy paper and crappy markers.this book Definitely makes me want to get off my dead ass and invest in some new shit.i also had no prob with shipping.it arrived safe sound and on time.

What a GOREgeous book! Seriously! This book is top notch! Ghouliana makes her usual appearance and takes you through the book with devilish delight! Lots of variety in the illustrations from creepy clown kids, cemeteries and mausoleums, ouija boards, apothecary jars to my personal fave the twins from the movie "The Shining!" The paper is fantastic, the best I have personally seen in any adult coloring book thus far!! I've already started coloring a page and it holds up several layers of colored pencil (I used Prismacolor) extremely well! The cover is accented with beautiful red foil and is very appealing! I was so impressed with this book that I immediately went and ordered the first one! I am a huge horror fan and I don't know what took me so long to get these books, but I am glad I did! Looking forward to the third book in the series!

Love this book. Pictures and paper quality in these books is super awesome. BOH books all have a story to them and some pictures can be a little gory, but for a Halloween or gothic fan It just makes the book that much more exciting. This book is for those who want something different from flowers or beauty faces of girls. It keeps your imagination alive and gives you a change from your typical adult coloring books. No disappointments on any of these books, and very happy I own them.

This is one of those rare times where the sequel is equally amazing as the original if not better! There is something for everyone in this book and then some. Undead animals, clowns, zombies, landscapes, scary patterns, and even pretty things and more! Even if you only made it through a few pages in the first book, get this one now! It will not disappoint. So much thought and creativity went into this. And same thick, high quality pages. Brush pens, gel pens, no problem here!

I just received The Beauty of Horror II. I already have the first in this series. I didn’t think it could get better, but Alan Robert surpassed it. The artwork is stunning. I love that Ghouliana takes us throughout the book. I especially like the intricate framing around some of the artwork. One needs to really analyze each frame to truly appreciate what Alan Robert had achieved.I’m hoping that their will be a third edition out real soon. Highly recommend.

good introduction to the subject

This is an excellent book informing the American consumer how he is being fleeced by the title insurance industry.In many states thousands of dollars are charged for a title policy when a home is purchased.As the author peels off some of the mystery behind the title process, it becomes apparent that the consumers combinedignorance and lack of will to demand a change has resulted in a very unfortunate situation where we are being bilked tothe tune of billions of dollars. Unfortunately in many states even the local govt is in on the act.This book is a tremendous education for any homeowner on the ins and outs of title insurance. A reader can only concludethat this element of the home ownership process is just plain unethical. The author provides numerous examples of howthe consumer is being bilked. Here are some examples: 1. The overall liability for a title insurance company as a % of premiums collected is in the low single digits. Compared to any other reasonable insurance business where the liability is much much higher. So where are the billions of profit dollars going? 2. Why does an individual who owns a home have to again pay the title charges each time he refinances the mortgage??? 3. Why is the homeowner paying the fees to purchase the title for the mortgage company as well as for self?? 4. Why is there a clause in the title papers which dramatically minimizes the actual liability that the title insurance company has in the case where there is an actual problem?? 5. Why does the title industry refuse to provide statistical data on their revenues/ liabilities/ costs...etc, yet any mainstream insurance industry is mandated by the law to do so? 6. Why are the costs still the same if not higher even though much of the title process is now automated and the title agent with the press of a key can complete the research process in a matter of a few minutes instead of hours? 7. Why are the costs of a title so high when much of the automation work was done by offshore workers?? 8. Why is the cost of a title for a brand new subdivision house the same as it is for a house that has changed hand 10 times?The author is absolutely right to call the title insurance industry a cartel. Even many states talk big about how they stand behind theircitizens and yet are spineless enough to work in collusion with the title industry to maintain high prices. An example is Texas, wherethe title fee is fixed to around $2600 by the state (before all the other add on charges).Iowa stands out as a model of how private and state entities can successfully compete in the market with regard to titlepolicies. They know how to take care of their people. Also, they are a beacon of light informing us clearly that there issomething very wrong with the title process. A title for a house up to $500,000 costs about $100 when taken from the IowaState Title company and yet the state is still making a profit! And surprise.....the private title insurance companies also compete in the state and charge similar amounts for a title. Now, do you seriously think a private title company would compete in a marketwhere they were losing money? (Just look at Obama Care to validate your answer). Now just think how ridiculously high the profitmargins are for a title company.The media will hound every business owner who dares to charge high prices during a hurricane. Even the govt will go aftersuch businesses. Yet in this situation the media is silent, the govt is in collusion with the title industry, and the average American paysthe price by being forced to cough up thousands of extra dollars in the process of buying a home.We really need to eliminate this very unAmerican process and bring the costs of a title policy to a reasonable amount. But itwill only happen if the consumers raise their voice. This is a very well researched book by an author who in the process has done justice for the American people. He has armed us with the facts, now we need to do something about it.

1. I am positive there are abuses taking place in the industry2. State regulation and pricing are WIDELY varied. Having purchased homes in Indiana, title insurance was cheap, efficient and valued. The same cannot be said in Texas. The cost is ABSOLUTELY BURDENSOME.3. Reform and greater oversight are absolutely required.Having worked outside the US in real estate, the author must address the comparative costs of home acquisition in the US compared to other countries. Though a consumer is charged for title insurance benefiting both the lender and purchaser at the time of closing; the long term cost of money in the form of interest rate is lower as a result of credit enhancements, such as title insurance, widely available in the United States that allow money to be available at a lower cost to consumer.Lenders that cannot access credit enhancements at a low cost to the consumer, price the title risk into their loans. So, as an example, instead of a loan being available at 6% for 15 years; lenders will add a quarter point to the loan for title risk and make the funds available at 6.25% for 15 years. To have a truly meaningful review of the title insurance industry, there must be a discussion of the long-term cost of additional interest consumers avoid by paying a one-time premium.Maybe one of the key reforms that should be undertaken is to significantly reduce the cost of title premium paid at the time of a refinance. This is one of the most objectionable practices I see daily in the title industry.The author mistakenly argues that title agents retain too much of the title premium when issuing a title policy, especially when compared to property and casualty insurers. Such a sweeping statement cannot be maintained when comparing states and the wide disparity between percentages retained by agent and amounts remitted to underwriters. There are many states in which the agent ultimately takes the risk of writing the policy and justifies the agent keeping more of the premium.If an agent makes a mistake in searching the property that causes a loss, by contract the underwriter will settle the loss with the insured. However, if the agent's negligence is the cause of the loss, the agent will have to pay the underwriter back for actual loss and expenses associated with the claim pursuant to their agency contract. This fact alone makes meaningful comparison to property and casualty insurers impossible. To quote loss figures of $.47/$10.00 as evidence of overcharging laughable and misguided.I am confident that figure is close to accurate for underwriters, but is net of the underwriter's salvage from agents and those individuals who actually are responsible for paying the loss. To accurately gauge the claim ratio, the author must look to the amounts paid by agents as loss to gain a clearer picture of how much goes out in the form of loss and loss adjustment expenses paid by the industry to claimants.Again the author shows why his lack of any meaningful experience in the industry is a glowing weakness in his book. Texas, cannot be used so widely to condemn the industry in the other 49 states.There are many other instances to point out the author's lack of understanding of the function title agent's play...but that is the topic for another book.

In this industry the cost of the title plant is extremely high and typically the combined ratio has been in the 89% to 93% range (depends on efficiency & scale) and was well over 100% in 2008. A good profitablity measure for shareholders is Return on Equity and Fidelity's is usually between 8% and 18% but was negative last year and is currently just 4% compared to a cost of equity around 10 or 11%. Not so profitable as to be fleecing anyone

Planning a trip out to the Yucatan with my homies for the past few months and have been pretty overhwelmed with just how much unnecessary crap is in the other travel guides out there. I really liked how this one gets straight to the point yet made me laugh constantly… Didn’t know a resource guide could also be fun to read like a good novel! Definitely can see myself using it daily when we fly out there in August.

I’ve been considering visiting Cancun with some family for years so was looking for a book which would help me understand how to make the trip happen with about 5 people and not spending a fortune. This guide helped me figure that out and basically plan the whole thing before I’ve even bought the tix!

Love how professionally formatted this book is. You can tell it was built with care. Made it very easy to read cover to cover very fast. Also has a very well done table of contents to make it handy when actually in Cancun, I bet.Thinking about going but going to research other cities first. Anyway, wish SHEDER had more guides I could read, the others on Amazon are just too long.

Got bored with lonely planet guide. Just too big.This one made me laugh a lot and gave me everything I need to know.I'd just like to see more suggestions for off grid experiences in the second guide.Still an awesome guidebook though!

The best thing about this were the references to online sites containing info about Cancun but more generally theYucatán. Otherwise there's not much here that is useful. Better off applying cash to buy something more comprehensive in nature.

Good guide... really like how minimal it is and that I could read through it in an afternoon. Gave me a good overview of Cancun, feel pretty confident about going solo now. Wish more books were as pithy as this one.

I've only been to 3 of the places mentioned. Next time I go, I will definitely have to try the others. +1 for the Coco Bongo mention. If you have never been to Cancun, do yourself a favor and go. There are so many cool things to do there.

SHEDER.. See hear eat drink experience relax, love that concept. Everything a good trip has. This is the third Cancun guide I’ve read now and this one was by far the most well made and informative. I feel like I got a good handle on it now and what to do in the city. Definitely hope they add in more things to do in the wild and with guides in the next version.
