I tried to like this book, but it didn't turn out to be useful for what I wanted, which was to learn how to make raw vegan bread and wraps in my new dehydrator.This book seems to be an extension of the author's blog, complete with url references instead of photos. This book uses a very conversational tone with simple words to argue for a raw vegan lifestyle, while advertising for the author's favorite brand of dehydrator. There are some taste combination ideas for foods, but most of the "recipes" have a time range that is so wide it's not useful (e.g. 10-24 hours), or it's not there at all (e.g. until dry -- with no description of what that means).For raw vegan recipes, I'd say skip this book and keep looking.
Some good information for a neofite dehdrater, but not nearly enough recipes. Would have loved a better source of wraps, crackers, chips, and breads, in one place. This didn't deliver.
I had the pleasure of meeting Kristen Suzanne at her restaurant in Manhattan. She came in wearing no make up, yoga pants, and her hair pulled back in a mess and she was STILL one of the most beautiful women ever. Her skin glowed, even in the dimly lit restaurant. I've never felt better than when I'm eating raw. My skin looks amazing, zero aches or pains. Its amazing.Kristen's recipes are my favorite. All of her books are wonderful and everything goes well with wine.
I've been on the fence about eating raw foods for about a year and I THINK I've finally mentally committed to at least try eating a mostly raw food diet. I flip through this book and others and I am happy to report that I know I can make the change from eating healthy to eating healthier. I haven't read this book in its entirety but I'm impressed by what I've seen thus far. Maybe its because I'm a newbie but it doesn't matter...I am more than satisfied.
This book is more of a sales tool for author's favorite dehydrator and supplies. Must be so few books on the subject that they are all pals. Recipes are just so-so. Pity author could not even mention Ronco's entry in the field. In this age of enlightenment, I would have expected more "heart healthy" recipes and more detail on making fruit "leathers"
An easy reference guide to daily raw vegan eating via your dehydrator for the needs of light, dry & crunchy foods that only a dehydrator can provide in your journey to a mostly raw diet. And make sure you buy her Chocolate cookbook ! OMG, it's so good.
The raw recipes were easy and well put together I have kept most of the recipes for my personal use I would recommend this book to anyone who is transitioning from cooked foods to Raw foods I found the recipes very creative and cleverly put together.
Easy read, simple instructions, looking forward to trying most of the recipes. Wish there were more recipes and better table of content.
